Soy Candle Burning Tips
Your soy candle is much like a memory box. You must maintain it a bit for the best burn. Below I've put together the Soy Candle Burning Tips that I find most important for the maintainance of your Dripping In Color Soy Candles.
* New wicks are self trimming. However, if you have any problems with excessive smoke, blow it out and trim the tip away. This typically happens if the soy candle burns for more than 5 hours.
*Burn your soy candle until it develops a complete soy wax pool on the top. This will help cure the memory of the soy candle, so the next time you burn your soy candle it will know to go that far for a cleaner burn.
* Soy Pillars need to burn no more than 2 hours initially. As you burn your soy pillar, when the edge gets to about 1/2" thickness, blow it out to set the memory. Re-light again after the soy pool has set. It's very important to never burn Soy Pillars more than 2 hours initially. If a soy pillar candle starts to crack on the edge, than blow them out and let it set.
* Drafts are not good for soy candles. Keep your candles as clear of draftways and fans as possible. Otherwise you'll get a sideways burn and that can be real funky for your soy candle.
* If you're one of those who loves to move your soy candle when it's lit ... well, please don't do that. This is really not the best thing for the wax pool to slosh around. It messes up the wick and the burn.
* Always burn on safe pillar plates and surfaces. With Dripping In Color refills, it is very important that you do not let them burn on a pillar plate. They must be in containers as they are a lower melting wax.
* Handpainted soy candles are best burned on any surface. The lower the flames flicker, the deeper the reflection is on the space it surrounds.
* NEVER BURN YOUR REFILLS AS PILLARS. That is not a safe thing to do because the temperature of the waxes are different and it will cause a huge mess.
* Enjoy Your Soy as you burn your soy candle, and know that it's a cleaner, crisper burn and it's made with more light than just the flicker.
